Finally, after months of dryness and oppressive heat, there was a rain day. Not just a little sprinkling here and there, we'd had those and their false promises, no this was a proper rain day, steady and incessant for hours.
Its the sort of day that is desperately needed, as stressed plants and trees have struggled so much. Thankfully, it wasn't a full deluge out of nowhere, but started slow and gentle, touching the hard-baked ground softly, encouraging it to soften a little, release, let go of the intense tension just a little to allow the good therapy that was coming.
Oh and it rained, eventually hard and long and there were puddles, there were puddles again (Gandalf) and thankfully it did not flood, but the ground said yes, yes, this is what we need and I looked out and was thankful and then I looked longer and saw that wow, people have completely forgotten how to handle rain, and it was funny watching them be swiftly reminded that it makes them wet.
Today there is a touch more green out of the window, but the baked brown still rules. We need a great deal more days like yesterday to come. Soon, I hope its soon, let the green recover.
